The Pali Canon
The Pali Canon is the standard scripture collection of the Southern Buddhist (Theravada) tradition. It is believed by Theravadins that these scriptures were recited orally from the time of the Buddha, though most scholars accept that it is difficult to determine to what extent the contents of this collection may be traced to the historical Buddha himself.
