Reflection 717
Welcome!
Only an immediate test
Outside and second-hand information is useless when it comes to this crucial question of one’s own Enlightenment. It’s no good relying on hearsay—on books however sacred, on teachers however revered, on friends however perceptive and frank. Even first-hand inspection, once it has passed over into memory, will not do. Only an immediate test, applied here and now, will settle the question beyond doubt. And when I look I see, at this moment and on this spot, this non-dual, lucid, simple Void which can never be worked up to, earned, achieved. Enlightenment has never occurred. It just is, and there’s no escaping it.
