Reflection 37
Welcome!
Let’s Get Physical
Are you in your body, or is your body in you?
If you do the
Bottom Line experiment I think you will see that, from your own First Person point of view, your body disappears into consciousness below your Bottom Line. This timeless empty space below your Bottom Line is who you really are and is clearly not contained within your body – how could you fit this boundless consciousness into your body? Your body is in this consciousness.
A simple way of saying it is: “I’m not in my body, my body is in me.” The
me being consciousness…
I also find that all my
body sensations are also
above my Bottom Line – they are in consciousness too. They do not limit or restrict who I really am.
Attend to the whole field of sensation. (If it helps you attend more carefully, first read the words, then close your eyes for a moment and check out your experience, then open your eyes and read the next bit, and so on.)
Is all that sensation inside anything, or is it inside no-thing, inside boundless awareness?
How big is the field of sensation? Where is its boundary, if anywhere? What shape has it – if any?
Is all this continually changing sensation separate from anything else happening in consciousness?
In other words, how big are you? Where are your boundaries? Are you imprisoned inside anything? Are you separate from the world?
I have no boundaries.
I am uncontained.
I am one with the world.
Whether I have my eyes open or closed, it’s the same. If I look at my hand and rub my fingers together, I find both the image and the sensation given here in this awake space. Hand-with-sensation there happening in space here. I am viewing my body with its sensations from this bodiless awareness. My body and its feelings don’t restrict or contain my being. My being is unbounded and at large – and richly filled with the image of my body and all I feel – and, of course, with the rest of the world. Everything is given here in this clear consciousness. Do you find the same?
Discovering that I am not in my body, that I am capacity for everything – this is so wonderful, so liberating. I’m united with the world. The world is my body - I’m wearing it like clothes! What a great outfit I have on today – and every day!
Warm regards,
Richard
Everything I have been brought up to believe about who I really am is upside down and wrong. (

This reflection is a true revelation, so relaxing and vitalising to the body itself. What joy this dance of the obvious intensifying. I just have to thank you again and again for the reflections. All of them marvellous inspirations and reminders in everyday living. Cattis.
