The One Seer

What if your partner wishes to stay short of that Line where you could be absolutely one?

The answer is that you are absolutely one, willy-nilly, regardless of whether he or she chooses for the moment to ignore that ever-present truth. So the problem of one-sidedness is, basically, not a real problem at all. Of course it's good for the two of you consciously to share your descent to the Ground where you are no longer two. All that's essential, however, is that you mind your own business, which at this level is the business of your partner and everyone else.

For consider: you are now taking in this printed page. Does the fact that it's not empty-for-you make you any less empty-for-it? Is your enjoyment of a rose dampened by the thought that the sentiment isn't reciprocated? Not in the slightest. The awesome yet self-evident truth is that you can only see Who you really are as Who you really are - to wit, as all beings, as the One Seer gazing out of them all. You don't come to that station of true self-awareness and true love - you don't lean back and rest on your Bottom Line - as somebody, but as Nobody-everything. (Douglas Harding. Head Off Stress.)
