Trusting Who We Are

I suggest there are, or should be, three stages of what we are up to. The first stage is to see Who we are and really get that clear. The second stage is to go on seeing it until it is our lifestyle, until we do it naturally. But along with the first two stages and growing all the time comes number three. That is trust – trusting Who we really, really, really are. And that means that when I have to act, I’m not acting from the resources of that little one in the mirror but from the resources of the I Am this side of the mirror. There’s no in-between. Either I am putting my money on that hopelessly inefficient, dying image – it’s just a paper-thin picture on that pathetic object whose name is Douglas – or I am putting my money on where I am coming from, on the Mystery that has this incredible know-how and certificate of ability, that it is. Now, that is quite a certificate. And so I trust This. When I have to make a decision, which happens all the time, what I do is refer it back Here. In other words, I see Who I am, and then I see what I get up to. See Who you are, and trust Who you are to come up with the right answer at the right time. (Douglas Harding. Face to No-Face.)
