Consciousness

Consciousness never was in those heads over there: they are in Consciousness. Consciousness isn't a thing, to be split up and shared out among things. It is the unique prerogative, the boundless Essence, of the 1st Person singular, present tense, and to imagine it lurking in 3rd persons as such is as common as it is absurd, and as absurd as it is distressing.
