The Simple Vision

Seeing Who one is, the simple vision Here, is the root. In my experience, it is without quality. It has Nothing to recommend it. It’s naked, absolutely naked, and that is why it is so valuable – why it is available whatever one’s mood. One doesn’t have to psych oneself up. The leaning back and the comfort and the excitement and the sense of mystery and wonder with which This is connected for me – all these, however rich and important, seem to me to be just a little downstream from the Seeing. And this is a good thing because the Seeing, the Clarity, unites us all even if and when we don’t appreciate the comfort and mystery, and when all seems grey and dull. (Douglas Harding.
